Once a gootball league outfit, Halifax Town FC fell into arrears with their dwindling crowds and unbuilt stadium, the Shaw, before being relegated three times and having to rename themselves AFC Halifax\

The new re-formed team AFC Halifax have have been thriving well and are now thriving high in the Blue Square North Division (lower than the Premier League up north somewhere, please fill me in before I sent this bloody article off

Manager Niall Aspin is proud of his squad, who boast famous celebrity names like James Baker and Tom Dean. They are not the actual Dr Who and retro heartthrob though, just semi-professional footballers!!!The fans, who call themselves the Shawmen after their ground, share their manager's sentiments. They are currently at the top of the Blue Square North.

AFC Halifax,  placed second to Chorley in the Evo-Stick North 1 Division North 1 League 1 having played one more game, have a game on the cards that may remind them of their time in the league. For on Saturday, they are at home to fellow Yorkshiremen Mansfield Town.

AFC Halifax's "The Shay"

"I don't know why you're interviewing me," says AFC Halifax striker Mark Peers. "I don't even play for them anymore."

AFC Halifax home to drum up the support of the apathetic locals of the Kirklees borough this Saturday, who don't seem to be aware of their clubs achievements. In a poll, not a single one ofthose interviewed answered correctly that they play in the Blue Square North.

Philosophical: Halifax gaffer Niall Aspin

"We're all looking forward to the Mansfield game at the Shaw," Niall Aspin said. "It's true flattery for a tinpot no-name small-time unknown dog-and-duck pub team like ours to be graced with a proper team at our ground."
